Ernest R. Tyler, CPA, is a founding principal and president of Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur, CPAs, P.C. He has practiced in public accounting and private industry since 1982 and oversees personnel recruitment at the firm. Mr. Tyler graduated from New Hampshire College with a degree in accounting and is a CPA in New Hampshire, Florida and Vermont. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is the firm representative for the New Hampshire and Vermont Automobile Dealers Association.

Mr. Tyler has developed specific expertise in automobile dealerships and automobile related industries, trucking and wholesale distribution, as well as family and individual business and tax issues and business taxation. He has extensive experience in representing clients in front of the IRS, including successfully defending issues related to LIFO inventory compliance, owner compensation, purchase price allocation and automobile demonstrator use.

Jay is a partner and director of the firm’s Audit and Accounting practice. He graduated with distinction from Clarkson University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Law and began his career with the regional accounting firm Smith, Batchelder & Rugg. Jay is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont Societies of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he is a member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives and the New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Jay is also active in various civic and charitable organizations.

Jay has extensive experience in providing services to the not-for-profit, health care and private school industries, in addition to manufacturing and other commercial and privately-held entities. Jay provides consulting services including regulatory third-party cost reporting, reimbursement, benchmarking and cost accounting implementations.

David J. St. Sauveur, CPA

David J. St. Sauveur, CPA, is a partner in the firm and is responsible for the firm’s tax practice. In 1982, he joined a large regional CPA firm after graduating from the Arizona State University and was a tax manager upon leaving to join Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur as a partner in 1988. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Vermont and New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Kenneth P. Goodrow, CPA, is a principal in the firm. He originally joined the firm in 1988, and after working in the private sector in banking and as chief financial officer of a large dealership group, returned to Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur in 1997. Ken is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants, and has served on his local school board, and on the boards of several local non-profit organizations.

Ken specializes in providing accounting and auditing services to closely held companies and their owners. He works with his clients in tax planning, tax and accounting compliance, business and profit planning and operations and accounting systems. Ken is responsible for providing accounting, and dealership specific training to the firm’s professional staff, and implementing internal accounting policies and procedures on engagements. Additionally, he has experience with dealer buy/sell agreements, franchise approvals, valuations, and litigation support and has taught several classes on a variety of topics for the New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association. Ken also heads up our in-house technical review function ensuring compliance with audit and accounting pronouncements.

Debra A. Kilham is a senior manager in the firm responsible for the development of the firm’s employee benefit services practice. She is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. In 2002, Debra earned the designation of Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA).

Since 1995, Debra has developed the employee benefits services practice at the firm to include plan recordkeeping services of primarily defined contribution (401(k) profit sharing and tax sheltered annuity) plans. In addition to providing plan design, implementation and general consulting and compliance services to retirement plans, she also assists clients with the implementation of flexible benefit/Section 125 plans and Form 5500 preparation for health and welfare benefit plans.

James N. Godfrey, CPA, is a principal in the firm. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1988. He joined Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur in 1997 after several years in the retail and manufacturing industries. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also active in various community organizations.

Jim specializes in accounting and auditing with concentrations in the automotive industry, closely-held companies and not-for-profit organizations. He regularly attends continuing education classes for auditing and accounting and regularly attends Auto Team America meetings. Jim has assisted in developing training courses and has lectured for the New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association.

Virginia L. McGrody, CPA, is a senior tax manager in the firm. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. She entered the field of accounting with Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur in 1997 and earned her CPA designation two years later. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and of the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, Ginny is a member of Auto Team America (ATA), a coalition of CPAs providing services and solutions to automobile dealers, and is an active member of the ATA tax committee.

Ginny specializes in all aspects of corporate and individual tax compliance and planning. She has developed a specialization in the automotive industry and the myriad of related tax issues, including LIFO, cost segregation studies, uniform capitalization and estate planning and gifting.

Scott J. Barden, CPA, is a senior manager in the firm. He graduated from Bentley College in 1993. Scott joined Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur in 1995 after two years as a commercial credit analyst. He then left the firm in 1998 and joined the private sector, first working for a large manufacturing company for two years, and then as the CFO of a fast growing early stage medical device company. In 2005, after the successful sale of the medical device company, Scott returned to Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur bringing his private sector knowledge and experience with him. Scott is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also sits on the board of a local credit union.

Scott has experience in providing services to manufacturing, medical device and other privately-held entities, as well as the not-for-profit, health care and private school industries. Scott provides consulting services, including budgeting and forecasting, processes development and documentation and operational and financial analysis.
